We love London, so visiting again at the end of our year long adventure was so exciting!
On Sunday we had our first full day in the city. We started our day with a bike ride along the river from the Tower of London to Big Ben. It was a neat way to travel across the city and get some fresh air. When we arrived we wandered around the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Then, we made our way to a few more central London sights. We walked past Downing St., through St.James’s Park, and then down the Mall to Buckingham Palace.
Later in the morning we walked to the apartment I lived in during COVID, and then to our old apartment in Pimlico. For lunch, we stopped at Webster’s favourite kebab shop and ate in Green Park to soak up the sun!
Later that day, we walked through Piccadilly Circus, went shopping at Fortnum and Mason, and through Oxford Circus. Last time I was in London, it was COVID, so it was very quiet. It was so busy this week, a stark contrast to my time three years ago.
That night we met up with a friend from Queen’s who is now living in London. Isabelle was an exchange student in my program in Kingston. It was great to catch up and hear all about her life in London!
On Monday, we started our day bright and early at Primark! Primark is one of our favourite London stores because they have so much variety. Primark is not the greatest quality, but it is great value. We found some great items at Primark and beat the crowds to have a very quiet shopping experience.
Later in the day we spent some time at Selfridges and Harrods - two big luxury department stores in London. We love browsing through the expensive racks and gasping at the price tags! That night, we had dinner at Honest Burgers, another London favourite!
On Tuesday, we started our day with scones and clotted cream at Kensington Palace. We loved walking through the gardens in Hyde Park!
In the afternoon, we flew home from London to Toronto. Our Air Canada flight was only delayed 2 hours (a miracle if you know Air Canada!). We were lucky to get a row of 2 seats so we could have it all to ourselves. When we arrived home we were greeted at the airport by Mom & Clark with a huge welcome home banner!
The rest of the week we spent catching up with family, friends, and unpacking our last year of suitcases. We spent time with Clark at the cottage, had an Iced Capp from Tim Hortons, and did too many loads of laundry to count.
For the next few months (at least!) we will be enjoying time at home, getting back to normal life. Webster goes back to work on Monday and I am job hunting full-time. We don’t have any plans yet but we have already started talking about our next adventure.
This will be the last blog of our Australian/Epic Summer Adventure series. The blog will stay live but our weekly posts will end. Thank you to everyone who faithfully read our blog every week, and to those who scrolled through some pictures every so often. We loved sharing all of our adventures with you.
See you on our next adventure!
