What a week! We checked out of our beach apartment on the Gold Coast and headed to Sydney!
On Sunday, we went for one last walk in Burleigh Heads. It was a chilly, but clear morning, great for whale watching. That evening, we got all packed up and sold some more stuff on Facebook Marketplace.
On Monday, we moved out of the Gold Coast and dropped off the Red Rocket with her new owners - Carter and Sam!
Then, we had a delicious brunch before heading to the airport to board a quick flight down to Sydney.
We checked into our hotel, the Meriton Suites Sussex St. (highly recommend!) and headed to Chinatown for some food.
On Tuesday, it rained for most of the day so we spent the morning working. Then, we enjoyed some time at the pool, hot tub and sauna in the hotel.
In the afternoon, we went for lunch at Din Tai Fung - a favourite of ours. Din Tai Fung is famous for Michelin star pork dumplings.
That night, we walked around the city and Webster got Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake!
On Wednesday we did the Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk. The 6km cliff top trail weaves in and out of beautiful bays and parks, ending at Bondi Beach.
After our walk, we met up with Kate - an old friend from elementary and high school. Kate just moved to Sydney and has already built such a community. It was so great to catch up and hear about her Sydney adventures.
That afternoon, Webster rented a board and caught some waves at Bondi Beach - it was so fun to sit on the beach and watch him have a blast!
Later that evening, we went to Spice Alley for dinner. Spice Alley is another one of our favourite spots in the city with lots of Asian food options to choose from in the market style alleyway.
On Thursday, we rode the ferry from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay, under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House.
Then, we went on a walk through the Botanical Gardens, along the waterfront.
Later in the afternoon we had a snack at the Opera Bar outside the Opera House - such a beautiful spot!
That night, we walked around Chinatown, explored Paddy’s Markets, walked through UTS campus, and ended up back at Spice Alley for dinner.
On Friday we took the ferry to Manly, a beach on the North shore of the Sydney Harbour for Webster to surf once more. It was a beautiful, blue-sky afternoon.
In the evening, we took the ferry back to Circular Quay at sunset.
That night we went to a Chinatown Night Market - there were thirty stalls, and hundreds of people.
On Saturday, we started our last full day in Sydney. We walked up and across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for views over the harbour. It was a busy spot because a cruise was disembarking/embarking so the area was full of people pulling suitcases and taking in the sights.
In the afternoon, we went up to Observatory Hill, the spot where Webster proposed in December! We had a little picnic and took in the view.
Later on, we spent some time at the Rocks market. We walked through the stalls and I bought a painting of the Sydney Harbour.
Once the sun went down, we walked around the harbour once more to see the bridge and opera house all lit up. It was the perfect night for an evening walk!
We finished our night with some dinner and fireworks in Darling Harbour - what a great way to end our time in Sydney!
This week we are heading back to Brisbane for a few days so I can cross the stage at graduation. Then, we are heading off on our summer adventure.
Thanks for following along with our adventures and reading the blog. The next six weeks are going to be some of the best so stay tuned! First Stop: Dubai
