This week was our last week on the Gold Coast! We spent lots of time soaking up the sun, enjoying the beach, and getting ready to leave Australia.
On Sunday, we spent the day in Byron Bay with Sam & Carter. We started our day at the Farm with some yummy pastries and coffee.
Then, we headed on a walk at the Byron Bay Lighthouse where we spotted whales along the beautiful coastlines.
We finished our day with some live music by the beach, a traditional Aussie sausage sizzle, and some Aussie beers at Stone & Wood brewery.
On Monday, we went for a walk along Burleigh Beach. It was a beautiful day, with blue-blue skies.
That evening, we had the best gelato from Burleigh Gelato Co. and played some euchre.
On Tuesday, we celebrated Webster’s big 26th birthday! Happy Birthday Webster! We started the day with some presents and cards.
Then, we went for coffee on the beach where we saw whales, dolphins, and lots of great surfers.
In the afternoon, Webster went surfing - of course! He caught some great waves.
Later in the evening we celebrated with sushi at Sushi Ren, a local sushi restaurant with a conveyor belt of options. Afterwards, we finished our day with homemade birthday cheesecake!
On Wednesday, we spent some time selling some things that we have accumulated during our time in Australia. We sold our air fryer, tent, sleeping bag, and removable surf rack, among other things.
We also spent some time getting our visa’s organized for our summer adventure. We had to submit passport like photos for each of the visa’s. Thankfully they were all approved, and we are all set to go!
On Thursday, we had a big work day with lots of meetings and calls. We went for a nice walk in the evening along the beach.
On Friday, Webster spent the afternoon surfing (with the GoPro!). He caught some great waves, and some great photos/video while he was out there.
On Saturday we celebrated Canada Day in Brisbane. We started at the Prince Consort, a local pub that was decorated for Canada Day, had real snow, and played only Canadian music. We had an Aussie style poutine, not as good as home, and sung along to classics like “The Hockey Game” by Stompin’ Tom. They even played a video of Terry Fox on the big screen - very Canadian!
Afterwards, we went to SeaLegs brewery, a local spot owned by a Canadian. We had maple infused beer and pulled pork pizza. They also had decorated for Canada Day with maps, flags, and table shuffleboard. It was a fun way to celebrate Canada abroad.
This week we are packing up, leaving the Gold Coast, and heading to Sydney! We are going to spend one more week there exploring before we leave Australia in two weeks.
Thanks for following along with the blog! See you next week.
