This week we has been a bit more relaxed, with lots of summer trip planning!
On Sunday, Webster, Carter and Sam walked 35km for mitochondrial disease. The Bloody Long Walk started at Curlew Park, Sandgate and walk through the beautiful Boondall Wetlands, along the bikeway to the river. Then, they took in the beautiful Brisbane skyline on a fully signposted walk through beautiful scenery, and surrounds of the city before finishing in the stunning City Botanic Gardens. After the Bloody Long Walk, we celebrated with some wings and beer in the city!
On Monday, we spent the day buying school supplies for our donation in Kenya. Thank you to everyone who donated to support the community. We were able to buy:
-500 pencils
-600 pencil crayons
-500 pens
-1000 pieces of chalk
-50 erasers
-10 pencil sharpeners
-5 anthology books
-20 assorted sports balls (basketball, soccer, football, volleyball)
-10 frisbees
-10 jump ropes
On Tuesday, I went for a haircut at Demi International in the Gold Coast. I cut off six inches for a donation and got my hair thinned out before a hot summer of travel.
On Wednesday, we celebrated State of Origin rugby game at the Star Casino with some friends. The State of Origin series is an annual best-of-three rugby league series between two Australian state representative sides, the New South Wales Blues and the Queensland Maroons. We were cheering for QLD and they won!
On Thursday, we spent most of the day trip planning but of course, Webster jumped in the ocean after a long day of work. It was a chilly evening, but he is making the most of our last few weeks in Australia.
On Friday, we went on a coffee date to Paddock Bakery for some delicious pastries and coffee.
Then, in the afternoon, Webster spent a few hours catching some waves at the beach.
On Saturday, we picked up Carter and Sam from the train station for a weekend on the Gold Coast! We spent the afternoon searching for wild kangaroos at a local park.
Then, that evening, we went to the Burleigh Heads Beach Club for some drinks before dinner at a local Thai restaurant - it was delicious!
This week, we are heading to Byron Bay, celebrating Webster’s 26th birthday, and celebrating Canada Day! Thanks for following along with the blog, see you next week!
