Paisley is here!! This week we moved to the Gold Coast, Webster snapped his surf board, we welcomed Paisley to Brisbane, and did a city tour.
On Sunday, we packed everything into our red rocket and moved down to the Gold Coast. We checked into our new place, unpacked, and walked around the area to explore.
On Monday, Webster went surfing! We are living 4 minutes from a great surfing beach. He had a blast!
On Tuesday, we went to Paddock Bakery for breakfast. It is tucked behind the main road in the Gold Coast, and offers fresh bakery and breakfast every morning. We had a great date with delicious food.
On Wednesday, we spent some time on the beach working. I submitted my last assignment (ever!) and Webster got some work done. It was a windy afternoon but nice to be at the ocean.
On Thursday, Webster cracked his surf board … the sign of a pro surfer! We went shopping for a new board and he picked a really cool new board for our last few weeks in Australia. Surfboards hold their value pretty well, so he’s excited to use it for a few weeks, then resell it before we leave.
On Friday, morning we did some shopping to prepare for our international arrival!
Then, we spent some more time at the beach at sunset. Webster surfed with his new board at Rainbow Bay! The surf spot was so spectacular, that humpback whales and dolphins were swimming around too. It was really cool!
On Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early (before the sun came up) to pick up Paisley after her 24 hours of travel. In order to avoid jet lag, we had a busy day with some of our favourite sites in Brisbane.
Our first stop was Ninebar Kitchen for breakfast - one of our favourite breakfast spots in the city.
Then, we went to Brooki Bakehouse to pick up some world-famous cookies.
Our third stop was the University of Queensland to tour campus. We walked through some of my classes and took photos with the Steele building!
Afterwards, we went up Mount Cootha for views of Brisbane, over the city. It was a beautiful clear day and we could see out to the ocean.
Our next stop was the West End Market. We had been wanting to go to the market for a few weeks now so it was the perfect day to explore. We walked through stalls of fresh produce, art, handicrafts, and souvenirs. It was a lot bigger than expected and we found some good deals!
After that, we headed to Mount Gravatt on the search for koalas! The park and trails in Mount Gravatt are home to wild koalas. We had success spotting a koala last time we were there, so we wanted to try again. When we first entered the park, we saw a koala rescue team getting a sick koala down from a tree. He was taken to the RSPCA for pink eye treatment.
After that excitement, we walked around the park in search of other koalas up in their trees. Thanks to Webster and Sam, we found two more perched near the trail!
In the evening, we headed to Felons Brewery under the Storey Bridge for a drink! Felons is an iconic Brisbane spot for a great view.
Our final stop of the day was Eat Street. Eat Street is our favourite restaurant in Brisbane. We walked Paisley through the entire market before finding a table, and getting some fun food.
This week we have plans to go surfing, do a day trip to Byron Bay, celebrate my 26th birthday, and go to the zoo! Lots to come on the blog next week.
Thanks for following along. See you next week!
