This week we spent time on the coast in Jervis Bay! We soaked up the sun, enjoyed the white sand, and did some diving.

On Sunday, we got settled into our AirBnB and headed to a local market for some groceries. The market had a huge variety of things - fresh produce, baked goods, knick-knacks, and more. We ended up with some local produce and a fresh loaf of sourdough. Later that day, we walked through the town and explored the little shops.

On Monday, we spent the day at Hyams Beach. Known for its sugar-white sand, Hyams Beach is an idyllic holiday destination, with crystal clear waters surrounded by a fringe of national park. We were greeted by dolphins playing near the shore.

Later in the day, we did the White Sands Walk along the coast and across a few beaches. It was neat to walk in the trees and on the sand.

On Tuesday, we went scuba diving in Booderee National Park. We did one day dive, in the light, and another dive at night, in the dark. Since the water was cool, and we stayed in shallow waters, our tanks lasted a long time. Diving at night was a cool experience as we only had the light from our flashlight to guide the way. We were lucky to swim with some sharks who mostly left us alone … Webster had one brush by his leg and he didn’t even notice!

On Wednesday, we drove into town for a market called Beats & Eats. It was not what we expected but we made the most of it and supported a local business.

On Thursday, we explored Booderee National Park. Located on Aboriginal land, Booderee is one of the most natural kept parks in Australia. We walked along the coast to the top of the cliffs for beautiful views.

Our next stop in the park was Cape St. George lighthouse built in 1860. Today, the lighthouse is just ruins but is located in a beautiful part of the park.

On our way out of the park we spotted some kangaroos in the local school yard. The kangaroos were enjoying some grass for dinner in the soccer fields.

Later that night we played some trivia at a local pub in the small coastal village. While we didn’t place, we weren’t last place, so that’s an improvement!

On Friday, Webster spent the morning golfing at St George’s Basin Country Club. All the Google Reviews said there were kangaroos on the golf course, so I came along and played caddy in hopes of seeing a few. We were pleasantly surprised to see more than 200 kangaroos on the golf course! What an experience.

Later that night, we went to Jervis Bay Brewing Company for a bite to eat. It was a cool tap house located in an industrial area. It was definitely the local spot to hangout.

On Saturday, we packed up our things and headed back on the road for Canberra. On our way we stopped at a little beach in southern NSW, Pebbly Beach.

Later that night we went to Verity Lane Market for dinner, a food hall with various cuisines in one spot. We had bao, arancini balls, and ice cream!

This week, we are in Canberra for a few more days before heading to Melbourne to meet Mom & Wayne! Stay tuned for what will be one of our busiest weeks yet - we have a lot to show our visitors :)
