Australian Adventure, Week 12: October 9-15

This week has been filled with great coffee and local adventures.

On Sunday we spent the afternoon at the driving range. Webster found a great spot, about 5 minutes from our place. It’s a driving range, mini-putt and public park owned by the city.

On Monday, we explored a small village near Brisbane called Samford. It is famous for Australia’s only Harry Potter store. We spent some time walking around the village, checking out the store, and getting coffee. Then, we went on a hike in a Queensland State Park. We had the whole place to ourselves, and didn’t see anyone else on our adventure.

On Tuesday we had a slow morning, I went to class and Web did some work. Then we went on the hunt for a new putter for Webster’s golf bag. On Wednesday we had our weekly shift at the Food Bank. We sorted through some boxes of Halloween donations from local grocery stores and Amazon.

On Thursday we had a busy day of school and work. In the evening we went to a cool lane way bar called Miss Demeanour. It’s a cool spot underground, and had great food.

On Friday, we enjoyed a delicious coffee on the water at Mica. We spent the afternoon planning some activities for our upcoming road trip.

On Saturday we had a big day out at the Fourex brewery. We went on a brewery tour with some friends that we met through a Canadians Facebook group. XXXX (Fourex) is Australia’s most famous, and popular beer. The XXXX brewery tour took us through the 140+ year history of Queensland’s most iconic brewery. We learned all about the brewing methods, the ingredients and, of course, how to pour (and drink) the perfect XXXX.
