This week has been filled with studying, exams, more studying and more exams!
On Monday Webster went to UTS to get some studying done. He jumped on the light rail and spent the morning/afternoon getting some work done. I spent the day at our AirBnB studying with all my notes spread all over the kitchen table - it was very productive!
On Tuesday, we both spent the day at UTS working in the Law Student Society Lounge. They have a great setup with plugs, a water fountain, and big desks to work on. We packed lunch and spent the entire day working away in preparation for our exams.
In the evening we went for an early dinner to celebrate two days of hard work at Webster’s in Newtown. We had to check it off our list just because they picked the best name! The food was just alright but we are glad we tried it before we left Australia.
On Wednesday, we needed a little break from studying so we went to the Chinese Garden of Friendship in Darling Harbour. The garden is a little fenced in sanctuary in the middle of the city. There are waterfalls, lakes, Chinese native plants, and animals. It is extremely well maintained. Many of the other visitors were very clearly annual pass holders as they knew all the employees. We spent an hour or so exploring the gardens, feeding the huge fish and resident turtle, and taking tons of photos. It was a beautiful day with great weather!
After the Chinese Garden we spent our evening doing some meal prep and getting some more studying done. Webster has three exams over the next week, and I have four. We have been working hard to keep our home GPA here in Sydney.
On Thursday, Webster had his first exam on Database Fundamentals. He was really well prepared and even left the exam early! Way to go! We celebrated with a little break in the afternoon. I did some online shopping on GumTree (similar to Kijiji at home) for a waterproof camera bag I could use in case of rain in Asia. We met an online seller for a used Dicapac Bag at Central Station, it was in great condition so I was happy to buy it to bring along on our adventure. It is supposed to be the wet season when we travel so we want to be prepared for whatever comes our way, while still getting some awesome photos!
On our way out of Central Station, Webster was brave enough to try some cricket flour waffles with crickets on top! The Economist magazine was advertising a 2 year subscription and their newest cover story was about sustainable protein. Webster enjoyed crickets ground up in his waffle, with banana, syrup, icing sugar and crickets on top! He said “It was good but a little crunchy!”
Later that evening we spent some time catching up with Marshall after he finished work. We grabbed dinner at the Opera Bar in Circular Quay, right below the Sydney Opera House and on the water beside the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was nice to see it a little emptier after Vivid had ended. We enjoyed some food and took in the view!
On Friday, we woke up nice and early to get a full day of studying in. We went to UTS and spent the whole day working away. Webster even spent a few hours quizzing me! We spent our evening taking a little break and watched some Netflix before an early night.
On Saturday morning, I had my first exam. I left at 6:45am to make it all the way out to my campus. The exam was on Marketing Communications and it went very well. On my way back into the city, I stopped to see Webster studying at UTS. We got some groceries before heading back to our AirBnB for some more studying that night.
On Sunday we enjoyed a well deserved sleep in! We spent the morning studying at our AirBnB before heading to UTS to study for the afternoon. We lasted six full hours but after that we were ready to be done for the weekend! We spent the evening watching some TV and working on the blog!
This week we both have a few exams to write before we head to Asia! It is Webster’s birthday on Thursday and we are heading to Bali on Thursday night! We are sad to say goodbye to Australia after more than four months, but it will be great to get out there and keep exploring. Thanks for following along during our Australian adventure, we can’t wait to share our adventures in Asia with you!
