This week started off as they all do. I headed to school on Monday for a long day of classes. Most of the lectures were just course review and exam preparation so the day went by pretty quickly. Webster joined me in Parramatta early in the morning to take some photos of me at school. Then he spent his day at school working on the finishing touches for his group project. On Tuesday we both headed to class once again. It was our last day of classes! After class we headed to Krispy Kreme to get my free birthday treat. When we got to Sydney I signed up for every store membership that came with a free birthday treat, Krispy Kreme was the first one I redeemed, starting my birthday early!
On Wednesday I had my last morning of volunteering. All my girls were so surprised it was our last session together. They will have a post test next week to see how they have improved or if they need another run through the program in July. I spent the afternoon finishing my readings. Webster had his final group presentation and it went really well! After his presentation his group went out for dinner to celebrate all their success.
In the evening I redeemed another free birthday treat and got a free scoop of ice cream at Baskin Robbins!
On Thursday we had a little sleep in and began to pack up our things for our trip to Uluru. We didn’t realize how much we accumulated after being here for almost 5 months! Then in the afternoon we headed to Spice Alley for lunch. Since we are leaving our AirBnB on Monday morning we were running low on groceries. We had our favourites and sat outside enjoying the sun!
After Spice Alley, we headed to the Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout. The pylon is the brown tower at the Sydney Opera House side of the bridge. Even though we did BridgeClimb, we wanted another look at the harbour from a high vantage point. We climbed up what seemed like two hundred stairs! We picked a great day because it wasn’t too busy and we had lots of space to ourselves once we reached the top. We had an unobstructed view of the harbour overlooking the Opera House and of course the bridge. We would highly recommend the lookout point on a nice, sunny day!

In the evening our AirBnB hosts invited us out for dinner to thank us for our stay. We went out for some delicious burgers in Surry Hills at Ze Pickle. It was nice to chat about all we experienced while in Sydney. We have been very lucky that all of our Sydney AirBnB hosts and houses have been wonderful. Our last day with them will be Monday.
On Friday, it was my birthday! We woke up and took our final dose of our last vaccine needed for the summer. Then we headed to The Grounds of the City for breakfast (thanks Mom!). We had our usual Iced Mocha and cappuccino. Then we split eggs, bacon and French toast. What a great way to start a birthday!
After breakfast Webster had planned a Great Dessert Tour instead of getting a birthday cake. We made three stops, at three different locations for three different desserts! Our first stop was at Kurtosh for their famous fudge stuffed cookies. We tried the original fudge and the peanut butter edition. We really loved the original fudge but they were VERY rich.
Our second stop was Cafe cre Asion. They were rated the best macaroons in Sydney! We tried three flavours: chocolate, salted caramel and matcha. Our favourite was salted caramel!
Our last stop was Krispy Kreme. This was a last minute edition for International Donut Day. We were one of the first 100,000 people in store so we got free donuts to celebrate!
We spent the afternoon watching the new Jonas Brothers documentary Chasing Happiness.
Then in the evening we headed to Darling Harbour for dinner at my favourite Sydney steakhouse, Hunter and Barrel. We had a delicious dinner followed by fireworks over the harbour.
When we got home Webster surprised me with a pedicure before we head to Asia. It will be a nice break between all my exams!
On Saturday we had a long study day. We woke up and did some more packing, then finished all the odds and ends left in the fridge for breakfast. After studying for a few hours, I headed to get my last birthday freebie! I got a free Booster Juice smoothie! We spent our evening enjoying a quiet night in.
On Sunday morning we packed up some things we didn’t want to take to Uluru with us and took them to Marshall’s apartment. He is staying in Chatswood, so about 30 minutes from us. Since we are leaving our current AirBnB on Monday, it was nice to have a secure place to keep our stuff while we are away! We also were able to get rid of some things we have accumulated. He was happy to take our laundry basket, beach towels, Brita, etc. Then we grabbed a quick lunch at the train station! It was nice to catch up and hear about all the things he had done this week.
In the afternoon we headed to Parramatta because I forgot to return a library book. I didn’t realize the last day to return books was this week! We took a long, but necessary train ride all the way out to Parramatta - Webster’s second visit of the week! We quickly returned the book and hopped back on the train back into the city.
We spent our evening packing up everything we had left and enjoying a yummy dinner out at our favourite place on Oxford Street - BL Burgers.
This week we are heading to Uluru (Ayers Rock) for some adventures in the outback! We have been really looking forward to our outback adventure and we will be sure to share lots of photos next week once we are back in Sydney!
