Wow! It has been a busy week.
I didn’t have any time to write the blog for last week so in this post I will play catch up. We will post again on Sunday for this week.
Monday and Tuesday were slow days. Webster and I spent the evenings doing laundry, working on school stuff, and cleaning up for when everyone arrived on the weekend. We both went into the office so that meant early mornings for both of us.
On Wednesday, we both hurried home from work and had a date night! I got a discount card for the Victoria area (very central London) and wanted to take advantage of the benefits! We went to Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant on Victoria Street. It was absolutely delicious, and was less than £20 for the two of us! Then we headed to Buckingham Palace to enjoy dessert together and watch the world go by.
On Thursday, I worked until about 8pm because the board of trustees were in for the day. We spent the afternoon and evening brainstorming for the upcoming year. Webster enjoyed a quiet evening at our flat.
On Friday, Mom, Wayne and Grandmom arrived in London! I met them over my lunch break when they arrived at their beautiful hotel. Of course, Mom was crying... We spent my lunch hour visiting the front of Buckingham Palace and exploring the area.
After work I went back to their hotel to visit for a little bit. Webster joined us after he finished his work day too. Grandmom was tired so she enjoyed some room service while we went for pizza at Franco Manca. It was fun to take them to a place Webster and I have discovered in the area! Then we walked back to our flat to give them a very short tour (there isn’t too much to see)! They managed to find their way back to the hotel on the tube without us - how impressive!!
On Saturday morning, Webster and I woke up early to join everyone for breakfast at the hotel. Then we went to Harrods! Mom and I got a pedicure while Wayne and Webster played on the toys and electronics floor. After our appointment we visited the gift shop!
At noon we headed back to the hotel and welcomed Jeffy and Rick to London! They spent the afternoon wandering and getting settled in the hotel. Meanwhile, Mom, Wayne, Grandmom, Webster and I headed to Kensington Palace to visit Kate, William, Harry and Meghan! We toured the Queen & King’s staterooms, then a Diana fashion exhibit. Even though it was pouring rain, and freezing cold, we had a wonderful time!
We headed back for the evening and enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was nice to have everyone together. Afterwards we headed to a discount department store called Primark. They have tons of London and Disney stuff - perfect for souvenirs! Everyone left with a bag bigger than them!
On Sunday morning we woke up early and waited outside Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guard. We arrived at 9:30am to get a good spot for the show at 11. While we waited, we made some friends from Grand Prairie, Texas. The Changing of the Guard ceremony took about an hour and we had a wonderful view of the entire thing! The guards played music, rode in on horses, it was so interesting.
Then we headed to do some souvenir shopping around the palace. Grandmom tried on some awful sunglasses and even met the Queen (in cardboard form)!
In the afternoon Mom, Jeffy and I headed to Oxford Circus for some shopping. We visited the famous Selfridges!
That night we had dinner at Honest Burgers. It was very yummy! It made it onto Mom’s list of her favourite burgers ever. Then we spent the evening down by the water at Southbank.
On Monday morning, we headed to the hotel for breakfast. I took the day off but Webster had to work so he got back to work after we had breakfast. I spent the morning grocery shopping with Mom and Wayne. They were so excited to see “how the locals live” and explore a grocery store. Lucky for me they even bought our groceries (Thanks guys)!!
Then Mom, Jeffy, Grandmom and I enjoyed afternoon tea at their hotel. It was so yummy! And so fancy! I even splurged and bought a fascinator for the occasion.
We spent our last night as a group at London/Tower Bridge. We walked along the water before enjoying dinner with a view! Afterwards we went to Piccadilly Circus. We saw the billboards, buskers and the M&M world!
Tuesday was emotional everyone was crying. Jeffy and Rick left before I went to work and I came back on my lunch to say goodbye to Grandmom, Mom and Wayne. They are set to arrive home at 3pm & 8pm local time, so they have a long travel day ahead of them!
It was a wonderful weekend! Webster and I really enjoyed showing everyone our new neighbourhood and playing tourist in a place we can call home for the next 11 weeks!
