I can’t believe we have already been here for three weeks! We are absolutely in love with London.
Monday was a total write off as we didn’t arrive home from the airport until about 4am Sunday night. I woke up at my first alarm (7:20am) and made it to work for 8:15am! After coffee, a pop, a few walks around the block, and LOTS of gum, I made it through the work day. Webster worked from home so he slept in until 9am, and enjoyed a comfy day at our flat. After work we did a big grocery shop. I was excited because we finally got our grocery store reward card and collected our first few points! Webster left at 7:30pm to play ‘football’ with a pickup league he joined. (I told him to take a photo but he was too embarrassed on week 1!) We had dinner and watched some TV later in the evening, then had an early night to recover from our late night on Sunday.
Tuesday was an early morning for both of us, we left for work at about 7:45am. Webster left work early to miss the rush on the tube. We spent the early evening working out some details for our travel later in the fall. Then, we headed to Harrods to window shop and look around!
On Wednesday we went to Oxford Circus to do some shopping! Webster needed football cleats for his new league, so we started at a huge sports store called Sports Direct. He was successful and found a pair for £20! We then made our way through little shops until we reached Primark. I had never been in a Primark before... 2 hours, and £80 later I had finished some Christmas shopping and got some new clothes. Webster even found some things too!
On Thursday Webster worked from home and came to visit me for my lunch break. We went to our favourite spot on the grass across from Buckingham Palace. We spent Thursday evening hanging out and doing laundry - it was nice to do nothing and catch up on our Netflix shows.
Friday after work, I arrived home to beautiful pink roses. Webster is the best. Then we FaceTimed with Kaitlin! It was so nice to hear how school was going, catch up about Laurier and show her our flat in London. Afterwards, we spent the evening at Flat Iron Square. It is a area where they have food trucks, live music, dancing, and the best part is, it is all outside! They had an Insta-famous chicken place we wanted to try, so we stood in line to get some famous chicken. It was SO worth the wait. Then we spent some time listening to music, hanging out and talking. We decided to take the long way home and walked along the river to see the Shard and Tower Bridge.
On Saturday, we woke up early and got a head start on the day! This weekend was Open Doors London, which means companies open their doors to the public for free tours. We took the tube and toured BBC Studios. Because it was a completely free tour, we had to wait for about 3 hours to get in. Luckily (for me!) there was a HUGE mall across the road. We spent some time at Westfield London looking in beautiful stores and getting some lunch. I behaved myself and Webster actually bought more than I did! When we arrived back at the studio we were shown the entire lot. Half of the property has been turned into apartments because they have the technology to film on a few sets instead of 50+. It was interesting to see the size and cost comparison of some flats further outside the city centre. We then made our way to Covent Garden to explore the little shops and live music. We tried another Insta-famous spot: Ben’s Cookies! We finished our evening with a trip to Marks & Spencer for a yummy dinner.
Today, we had originally planned to go to the Changing of the Guard at 11:00 am but it was pouring rain when we woke up... so we went back to sleep LOL. We spent the morning/early afternoon exploring the Science Museum in South Kensington. It wasn't really my thing but Webster absolutely loved it! There were exhibits about space, movement, technology and math! Webster even completed a math challenge and built this triangle, pyramid puzzle. After, we spent some time exploring South Kensington - Webster wanted to check out Imperial College London. We spent the late afternoon grocery shopping and making lunches for the week. We also booked some tickets for some main attractions we want to see when we are here. Tonight, we are headed to our new favourite spot for trivia! Two weeks ago, we weren't in last place so hopefully this week we can keep up the streak!
